MAINTENANCE

Daily Tile Care

Luxurious, durable tile floors are easy to maintain since they provide valuable moisture resistance and built-in toughness. These features make them a great fit for high-traffic kitchens, bathrooms, and foyers that won’t be stressful to care for. Simply place doormats outside all the entrances to your home and add area rugs in your rooms to catch the dirt and grime from entering your home. The best tool for cleaning your tile flooring daily is a microfiber cloth, Swiffer, or mop. A broom is also handy but can push debris across the floor rather than lifting it off the floor. Different tile constructions and finishes offer different levels of moisture and hardness so be sure to know what your specific floors provide.

Dirt & Debris

Like with any flooring type, removing dirt and debris particles before they become abrasive particles is a key to preserving your tile floors. Complete this step weekly or as frequently as possible, and certainly before wet mopping, by using a dry dust mop, soft bristle broom, or a vacuum with a brush attachment to protect your tile finish. Robot vacuum cleaners can potentially be safe for use on tile floors, though you should always check your manufacturer’s recommendations before using them.

Spills & Stains

One of the greatest advantages of having tile floors is that cleaning spills and stains is incredibly easy: Simply spot-clean with a gentle, tile-specific cleaner, and you can even wet mop your tile floors if needed! Use a mild cleaning solution, either a mild commercial tile cleaner or a simple water and vinegar mixture. Loosen and scrub any stains with a soft bristle brush. Rinse your tile floor to remove the cleaning solution, and then dry your tile floor with a clean towel or microfiber cloth to avoid creating water spots on your shining surface.
